In this week’s blog, we will focus on embodying a growth mindset about leadership.

Leadership styles come in several forms. I learned through the leadership role about 6 different styles. Each of these roles have their strengths and weaknesses. After doing our role simulation for our group project we all agreed on a solution. The agreement was that not one leadership role is perfect for any type of situation. However, you will need to embody certain aspects from each of these leaders at different times to get projects done. A leader has to be able to wear different hats or several hats at one time. You need to be flexible.

- Innovation-oriented

2. Authoritative Leader

- Decisive action

- Clear direction

- Structured implementation

- Efficiency-focused

3. Adaptive Leader

- Flexible problem-solving

- Context-sensitive decisions

- Focus on organizational learning

- Change management expertise

4. Collaborative Leader

- Collaborative decision-making

- Consensus building

- Shared responsibility

- Open communication

5. Servant Leader

- Stakeholder-first mentality

- Focus on community building

- Emphasis on listening and empathy

- Support-oriented approach

6. Strategic Leader

- Resource optimization

- Data-driven decisions

I identify with the transformational leader. I focus on inspiring change, have a vision-driven approach, and emphasis on motivation and growth. I'm take my time with people and try to help them in any way possible. I think we all need a little hand holding and patience. Sometimes explaining something the first time doesn't always work so, we need to try it a different way.

I will take apply what I have learned to technology by keeping in my mind that not everyone will be excited to learn new things. There will be push back and hesitation. However, by being a great leader part of dealing with those situations means I need to listen to this hesitations and help them understand the bigger picture while keeping in mind their side of the issues. I cannot just make an executive decision if it's not for the greater good. While I might have to make decisions people do not agree with, I need to keep in mind all aspects of the situation, plan ahead, and be prepared as best as possible. As a leader it's a great idea to surround yourself with people who will give you different views than your own. To help you see the big picture.

One day I hope to be a strategic leader.
